I am very excited to announce that I will be part of another epic odyssey this summer with one of the best group of guys you could ever hope to travel with.  Our destination… The great Pacific Northwest, and all points in between!

Our proposed route for this year!

Our proposed route for this year!.. We have one rider coming from Florida that will not be part of the route for us.

Our trip will begin in New Orleans, LA and take us though Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnisota, Wisconson, Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky, Arkansas and Mississippi. Whew….

We will encounter a very wide variety of weather ranging from blistering heat running through the deserts of New Mexico, Arizona, and into California, to potentially near freezing conditions in the upper elevations of Yellowstone park and through Beartooth Pass.  Packing will be an adventure in itself.

The estimated milage from the preliminary route planning is approximately 7500 miles which we will attempt to cover in 15 days.  This will be a very aggressive trip, will little time allotted for tourist types of stops.  The goal is to cover as many states as possible in order to check them off of the list of the lower 48.

The colored states represent the states that I have checked off of the list thus far…

My ride this year will be my trusty BMW R1200RT outfitted with hard cases and one waterproof roll bag.  If it doesn’t fit in those containment vessels, it will not make it on the trip!

This is a photo from our trip to the Northeast last year with my bike outfitted in the same manner as I will travel this year.
