Date: May 17th, 2013

Departure Time:8:15 am

Arrival Time:8:15pm

States: Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee

Miles Covered: 540

Our group was most anxious to depart this morning and by 9:40am everyone had arrived at our rallying point to leave. With a quick hop across the now toll-free greater New Orleans bridge, we were on our way. Traffic was light at this time of day as we worked our way through the CBD, over the high rise and through New Orleans East.

Our first fuel stop was in Meridian, MS and we took that as our opportunity to also have a quick lunch. Clear skies were the order of the day until we entered Tuscaloosa AL. Thirty miles of light misting turned into steady downpours that followed us to our final stop today of Chattanooga TN.

Last year, we had a most unfortunate hotel experience at exit 7 that led us to discover exit 5 in Chattanooga. This year, exit five was part of the plan.

We arrived at the hotel at a little after 8pm and had a late dinner at the Outback Steakhouse next to the hotel.

Rain is forecast for the next several days, yet we remain optimistic for a clearing after that.
